Cooperation and Support

Cooperation and Support

The ADiCu project connects the research team with institutions, businesses and the academic community to develop scientifically grounded and practically applicable solutions for circular construction. Support for the project, the development of cooperation with companies and ongoing dialogue with stakeholders help identify the needs of practitioners and guide the project’s research.

Support for the project

During the application stage, representatives of institutions, professional and business organisations, and the academic community in Croatia and abroad expressed their written support for the ADiCu project. They recognised the importance of combining material reuse, adaptable business models and digital solutions to improve circularity in construction.

The letters expressed a willingness to follow the project’s activities and results, participate in events and workshops where possible, and disseminate results through relevant professional networks. Specific forms of involvement are agreed upon during project implementation.

We are grateful for the trust and support expressed.

Collaborating organisations

Cooperation with businesses is being developed to connect research with specific projects, data and practical experience. Forms of involvement are agreed upon according to research needs and the capabilities of individual organisations.

Cooperation agreements are being prepared with companies that contribute, or wish to contribute, to the transfer and integration of knowledge and practices relating to the circular economy. The intention is to connect the ADiCu project’s research activities with examples and experience from construction practice and, subject to agreement and the suitability of individual projects, to involve students in project tasks linked to their coursework.

Such cooperation can contribute to knowledge exchange between academia and businesses and provide valuable input for research.

Dialogue with stakeholders

In line with the conclusions of the kick-off workshop “Let’s Complete the Circle”, the ADiCu project has initiated dialogue with relevant institutions, with plans to gradually involve public enterprises and other stakeholders from practice.

The aim of these discussions is to better understand institutional needs, regulatory and market barriers, and opportunities to apply future project results. Particular attention is paid to circularity indicators, financial and tax incentives, and connecting research with decision-making and the implementation of circular practices.

Initial meetings with institutions

The following meetings were held in August and September 2026:

Croatian National Bank – 25 August 2026
The project was presented, and the potential relevance of its future results to the Croatian National Bank (HNB) was discussed. Interest was expressed in continuing information exchange and holding periodic meetings, while specific opportunities for expert involvement will be considered once the initial guidelines and indicators have been developed.

Ministry of Finance – 26 August 2026
The discussions addressed tax and other incentives that could support circularity in construction. The value of comparative research into practices in European Union Member States and the exchange of findings on possible incentive mechanisms was highlighted.

Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development (HBOR) – 28 August 2026
Links between measurable circularity indicators, technical criteria and potential financial incentives were discussed. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of designers and the importance of clear and verifiable criteria as a basis for considering circularity in project financing.

Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes – 28 August 2026
The discussions addressed opportunities to establish European research connections, develop future project proposals and use the expert support available for their preparation.

Ministry of Regional Development and European Union Funds – 3 September 2026
The connection between circular construction and the criteria, indicators and priorities of funding programmes was discussed. The importance of engaging with the competent sectoral authorities was highlighted, with a view to considering circularity in sectoral priorities and future programmes.

Continuing the dialogue

Dialogue with institutions is continuing, with plans to extend it to public enterprises and other stakeholders from construction practice. Their experience and needs will help refine research questions, select examples for analysis and assess the applicability of future guidelines and digital solutions.
